Why Freeride Catski Bakhmaro?
Because Bakhmaro is a mountain settlement at approx. 1,900 m a.s.l. in the heart of the Lesser Caucasus, reached in winter by snowcat rather than by a lift. The terrain around it is only for you and your group.
Humid air masses from the Black Sea collide here with high ranges and leave a thick snowpack. The snowcat takes us to areas you could not reach on foot, so instead of ascents you get more time riding powder.
It is a club camp, i.e. non-profit: the contribution covers the costs of organisation and you ride in a group with local guides and a Polish team leader.
Snow, terrain and on-site care
We go over New Year: on 27 December we fly to Kutaisi and spend the whole day driving by off-road vehicles to Bakhmaro, from 28 December we ride by snowcat for 5 days (with New Year’s Eve on 31 December in the mountains), and on 1 January we return to Kutaisi. The flight home is on 2 January 2027.
Conditions in Georgia depend on the weather: thaws from the sea do happen, which is why the snowcat and guides choose higher, safer terrain every day, and the programme may change.
The contribution includes 5 days of catskiing, local guides, a Polish team leader, 6 nights, full board in Bakhmaro (breakfast, lunch in the snowcat – barbecue or hot meals from the cauldron – and dinner with wine every day) and off-road transfers from and to Kutaisi airport. However, flights are not included.

Why does Bakhmaro over New Year beat other destinations?
Here is a comparison of Bakhmaro with other popular places in the same period:
| Destination | Terrain and amount of snow | Crowds | Estimated trip cost | Pure freeride / notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Georgia – Bakhmaro (our camp) | Bakhmaro at approx. 1,900 m a.s.l.; humid air from the Black Sea brings heavy snowfalls and the snowcat takes us to higher terrain; the programme changes if a thaw comes | Minimal – only our group and the snowcat | €2,376 – €2,640 | New Year and New Year’s Eve in the mountains |
| Alps (e.g. Chamonix / St. Anton) | Over the holidays the off-piste snowpack is often thin and fresh snow is tracked out quickly | Huge in resorts over New Year | Costs typical for a large resort in the holiday season | Short drive or a cheap flight from Poland |
| Japan (Hokkaido / Honshu) | Legendary powder, but January is the peak of the season and of competitors’ costs | Large on Hokkaido | €3,360 – €3,400 (agencies from Poland) | Long flight and time difference |
