Why Freeride Norway Røldal & Gaustatoppen?
This camp is for those who are looking for a real multi-mountain challenge and the most spectacular views in southern Norway.
After four days of chasing storms in Røldal we head for the legendary Gaustatoppen massif (1,883 m a.s.l.). This mighty, raw mountain rises straight out of the plateau and creates its own snowy microclimate. In good conditions we ride the unique Gaustabanen railway, hidden inside the mountain, to ski monumental, steep off-piste couloirs.
While in the Tatras or the Alps you stand in huge holiday queues, we hide on the frosty Telemark plateau (Rauland/Gausta). Dry powder stays for weeks here and low attendance on the slopes guarantees untouched lines all day long.
Snow, terrain and on-site care
We go in mid-February – the moment when the days get longer and precipitation statistics provide a thick base of fresh snow. With the care of a local guide and professional support and advanced technical coaching led by the Pro Camp trainer (in a small group of 6 to 8 people), we avoid crowded spots, analyse the micro-relief of the terrain and perfect our riding on the most demanding lines. The trainer makes sure that every participant not only safely handles difficult rock features and couloirs, but also significantly improves their skills in reading snow, choosing descent lines and fluency in deep powder.
The contribution includes 7 days of intensive freeride, original ski coaching and technique correction with the Pro Camp trainer, local guide care, 8 nights (7 nights in a comfortable Scandinavian hytta cabin and 1 night in a hotel near Oslo) and transport in a comfortable 9-seat 4×4 van with studded tyres, fuel, ferries and road tolls. However, flights are not included.
We stay in a traditional, spacious hytta close to the ski spots, providing ideal conditions to recover after a full day on the slopes. Rooms are for two and a sauna guarantees an evening of relaxation.

Comparison of camps and costs
How does the Freeride Transfer Club contribution compare with agencies from Poland and abroad?

Therefore, we compare the most expensive competing camp with ours. As a result, this is how the amount spent per riding day (7 riding days) translates into value and scope of services:
| Parameter / Component | Freeride Transfer Club (our camp) | Foreign guiding operator (Scandinavia / Switzerland) | Difference / What do you gain with us? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total cost (contribution) | from €1,582 to €1,870 (excluding the Wild Card €75) |

Why do Røldal & Gaustatoppen in Norway beat freeride in the Alps (e.g. Chamonix / St. Anton) in the same period?
The Alps are an absolute classic, but they struggle with overcrowding and fresh snow being tracked out quickly. The table below compares the destinations by amount of snow, crowds and costs:
| Destination | Terrain and amount of snow | Crowds | Estimated trip cost | Pure freeride / notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Norway – Røldal & Gausta (our camp) | Cold Scandinavian microclimate of Gaustatoppen; dry, light, well-settled powder that lasts for weeks on the plateau | Minimal – small groups (6–8 people), untouched lines for many days after a snowfall | €1,582 – €1,870 | Traditional cabins, sauna, the Gaustabanen railway, raw wilderness |
| Alps (e.g. Chamonix / St. Anton) | Moderate Alpine climate (frequent thaws below 1,800 m); snow is variable – from powder to wind crust | Large – race for the tracks, powder tracked out within 1–2 hours, lift queues | Costs typical for a large resort | Mass tourism, crowded restaurants |
| Northern Norway (Lyngen Alps) | Ski-touring terrain above the Arctic Circle (ski-to-sea), 3.5 h from Tromsø airport | Small | €1,600 – €1,830 (agency from Poland) | Freetouring programme: touring gear and 1,000–1,600 m of ascent per day |
