Why Freeride Norway Røldal & Gaustatoppen?
This camp is for those who are looking for a real multi-mountain challenge and the most spectacular views in southern Norway.
After four days of chasing storms in Røldal we head for the legendary Gaustatoppen massif (1,883 m a.s.l.). This mighty, raw mountain rises straight out of the plateau and creates its own snowy microclimate. In good conditions we also ride the unique Gaustabanen railway, hidden inside the mountain. Then we ski monumental, steep off-piste couloirs.
While in the Tatras or the Alps you stand in huge holiday queues, we hide on the frosty Telemark plateau (Rauland/Gausta). As a result, dry powder stays here for weeks and low attendance on the slopes guarantees untouched lines all day long.
Snow, terrain and on-site care
We go in mid-February – the moment when the days get longer and precipitation statistics provide a thick base of fresh snow. Thanks to the care of a local guide, we avoid crowded spots and reach the best lines in the area.
The contribution includes 7 days of intensive freeride, local guide care and 8 nights (7 nights in a comfortable Scandinavian hytta cabin and 1 night in a hotel near Oslo). In addition, it covers transport in a comfortable 9-seat 4×4 van with studded tyres, fuel, ferries and road tolls. However, flights and ski passes are not included.
We stay in a traditional, spacious hytta close to the ski spots, so you can recover well after a full day on the slopes. Rooms are for two and, moreover, a sauna guarantees an evening of relaxation.

Comparison of camps and costs
How does the Freeride Transfer Club contribution compare with agencies from Poland and abroad?
Our club camp is based on a non-profit formula, without the high commercial margins of travel agencies. The comparison below shows the difference in the cost of freeride trips to Norway:
| Organizer / Trip option | Region | Estimated trip cost | Accommodation & meals | Logistics & guides / coaching |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freeride Transfer Club (our camp) 7 riding days |

Sweden (Lapland, Arctic Freeride) | €1,820 | – | 100% freeride, one-week trip. Flights not included. |

Cost of one riding day: Freeride Transfer Club vs Foreign guiding operator (Scandinavia / Switzerland)
Therefore, we compare the most expensive competing camp with ours. As a result, this is how the amount spent per riding day (7 riding days) translates into value and scope of services:
| Parameter / Component | Freeride Transfer Club (our camp) | Foreign guiding operator (Scandinavia / Switzerland) | Difference / What do you gain with us? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total cost (contribution) | from €1,328 to €1,570 (excluding the €63 Wild Card) |
€2,900 – €3,300 | You save from €1,330 to €1,972 (approx. 46–60% less). |

Why do Røldal & Gaustatoppen in Norway beat freeride in the Alps (e.g. Chamonix / St. Anton) in the same period?
The Alps are an absolute classic, but they struggle with overcrowding and fresh snow being tracked out quickly. The table below compares the destinations by amount of snow, crowds and costs:
| Destination | Terrain and amount of snow | Crowds | Estimated trip cost | Pure freeride / notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Norway – Røldal & Gausta (our camp) | Cool Scandinavian microclimate of Gaustatoppen; dry, light, well-settled powder that stays on the plateau for weeks | Minimal – small groups, untouched lines for many days after a snowfall | €1,328 – €1,570 | Traditional hytta cabins, sauna, Gaustabanen railway, raw wild nature |
| Alps (e.g. Chamonix / St. Anton) | Temperate Alpine climate (frequent thaws below 1,800 m); variable snow – from powder to wind crust | High – a race for first tracks, powder tracked out in 1–2 hours, lift queues | Costs typical of a big resort | Mass tourism, crowded restaurants |
| Northern Norway (Lyngen Alps) | Ski touring terrain above the Arctic Circle (ski-to-sea), 3.5 h drive from Tromsø airport | Low | €1,620 – €1,850 (agency from Poland) | Freetouring programme: touring gear and 1,000–1,600 m of ascent per day |
